Jim was born in Victoria B.C. and was raised in the Peace River country. He now lives in Calgary with frequent trips to his second home in Sylvan Lake. Jim was a professional land surveyor and Town Planner with his own consulting firm based in Calgary. For the last 20 years he has focused on his life’s ambition to be an impressionist artist.
He has studied at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel d’Allende, Mexico, and has taken courses at the Alberta College of Art and Red Deer College.
Through his preferred media of oils, much of his work exemplifies his love and intimate knowledge of the areas of Canada that he viewed as a surveyor. His works are mostly landscapes, although cityscapes and portraiture do form part of his portfolio.
