I was attracted to art at a very young age – doodling and sketching on any paper I could find; in my late 20’s I joined the Medicine Hat Art Club and was introduced to watercolor and fiber arts – but as my career took off and my three energetic girls demanded my time, I put the sketch book and paints away. I began my career in the financial banking industry - Credit Union in Moose Jaw; in Medicine Hat, at the Bank of Montreal then moved to TD Bank. I took various educational courses through the years and worked through the various positions to Branch Manager - managing branches in Calgary and Edmonton; thirty years later we moved to Sylvan Lake working in Red Deer for two more years then I retired. Still not ready to fully retire I worked part time at the Sylvan Lake Medical Clinic for three years.
I joined the Sylvan Lake Art Society when we first came to Sylvan and have been Treasurer, Vice President and President over the past sixteen years - currently I am treasurer.
My husband Norm and I have traveled extensively - Europe, Greece, Mexico, Hawaii, USA and Canada, my sketch book by my side all the time along with our camera... I use both for much of my references when I paint.
We love wild places; mountains and streams, rolling foothills and do many trips around Alberta, BC and Western Montana.
Although I have had no formal training I have taken every opportunity I can to take various workshops with the following artists: Mike Svob, Michael O'Toole, Alan Wylie, Brent Laycock, Marylin Timms, and John Lovett. I continue weekly winter sessions with Susan Woolgar, a Red Deer artist that our Art Society members study with.
My paintings are mostly of our Canadian landscapes and have a deep appreciation and love of the natural environment. I paint to depict my impressions of what I see on the canvas.
